How to decide:
- Working with delicate or soft materials (art glass, polycarbonate, fragile items on hand-held equipment)? Start with HPB35 or HPB6040 — the softest pads in the line, built to avoid damaging sensitive surfaces.
- Polishing semiconductor substrates (silicon wafers, cadmium telluride, gallium arsenide)? HPC4545, AMS, or Spar-Lon 2 are purpose-built for these materials, with AMS covering the broadest range including sapphire and silicon carbide.
- Working with hard glass or crystal where you need minimal pad deformation? HPC5080 is the hardest pad Spartan makes, ideal for the toughest glass materials.
- Need a first-step pad before final polishing? Spartan Omni-Gray is designed specifically for that role on silicon, sapphire, and silicon carbide, with surface options (plain, grooved, embossed) to match your process.
